If you are new to ARSEE or the ARSEE 401k, then you will need to follow a 2-step process to enroll. First, you will need to register with Nationwide by heading the following website:
www.nationwide.com/realtirement
Once you have registered, you are ready to enroll. The following video will walk you through how to enroll in your plan.
what if i don’t make an investment election?
In the event that you are hands-off with your plan, but still making contributions, your funds will be automatically invested in the Target-Date Fund that most closely aligns with the year you turn 65. This is commonly referred to as your Qualified Deferred Investment Alternative, or QDIA, for short.
How Does Participating Affect My Taxes?
You are in control with the ARSEE Engineers 401k Plan. You can elect to participate in either the Traditional 401k or access the ROTH(k).
With the traditional plan, both your contributions and employer match are made pretax, meaning that you will not pay tax on either of these contributions. Instead, tax will be applied when you withdrawal your funds at some point in the future.
Conversely, if you elect to participate in the ROTH(k), your contribution to the plan will be taxed as income in the year it was earned. It is important to note that currently, your employer match must still be made as pretax - though, there is legislation in process that may change this soon.
What are my investment options?
The design of this plan was to keep things simple for the employees of ARSEE Engineers. Therein, the menu of investment choices are limited to three general categories:
Stable Value Fund
Target-Date Funds
Index Funds
In the event that you to take a more active approach to your investments, Nationwide provides a fund window that will provide you with access to thousands of funds.
Does my plan have a “match”?
The ARSEE Engineers 401k plan provides a non-elective 3% contribution to your account. This means that even if you choose not to defer any of your compensation, the company will still provide 3% on your behalf. Additionally, these contributions are 100% vested upon deposit to your account.
How much can I save?
As of 2025, the IRS allows for you to save up to $23,500 per year. Additionally, for employees age 50 and over, catch-up contributions of $7,500 can be withheld, while those between 60-63 can add $11,250.
How can I withdraw funds from my account?
You are able to take a withdrawal from your account once you have either separated service from ARSEE or via an “in-service” distribution once you have attained age 59.5. The plan does not currently offer the ability to take loans against your account.
